Neo-avant-garde cacophony with tunes!

Big Block 454 have performed at various art gallery events and recently worked with dada artists Rusell Mills and Ian Walton on their installation "Measured in Shadows" which was shown in England and Eire. Still they are not very well known, not even in the UK.
"This is not a deliberate policy," they say. We're not that well know anywhere really, but people are aware of us."
Staying underground has in Big Block's case been a choice by their music. By playing what they like themselves instead of what the producers wants them to, the two guys have realized it's hard breaking out through the mist.
"It's more important to us to be recognized for the sounds we make, than what we look like," Pete says. "We would rather want to be well known as producers of unique and interesting music without having to be photographed on a computer generated mountainside. Not enough thought is given to how music and images can be presented: a lot of videos of musicians leave me cold. Rather like standing on a computer generated mountainside."

They keep a big hope to the Internet. Both in the zines showing interest for their music and in the continuance of collaborations through the net. They like collaborating. The latest collaboration was with a Russian industrial musician, called Jazztiz. He was making a CD and using only electronic sources he wanted some acoustic or at least non-electronic.
At present they are working on making the music for a series of Internet videos by the computer artists "The Art of Slackness", who they met through the Internet, who actually happened to live in Manchester as well. The videos will be presented at the Art of Slackness' homepage.

Wishing them good luck we part on the IRC session.
